My Tattoo’s #1
So far I have 14 tattoo’s, each with a meaning of there own, and I often get stopped and asked about them by passers by, or shop assistants, and family members so I decided that I would write a post to explain them all.
I am very passionate about my tattoo’s and each one will always have a meaning to it before I get it, like a piece of art, they explain parts of my life that mean the most to me.
Most of my tattoo’s have been done at the same place, Acero Arte in Darlington by artist Jason Bell.
Jason has designed and tattooed 11 of my tattoo’s, including my first ever tattoo, dedicated to my best friend. This tattoo took a few weeks for her to choose, but once she knew the design she wanted we went into see the guys at the shop and get it booked in. As this was my first tattoo I was very nervous on the day, but my mind was put to rest quite fast. The tattoo didn’t take very long, about an hour and I was done and over the moon with the result.
Problem with getting one tattoo is that the minute the needle starts, you’re already thinking about your next one, and this was definitely the case for me, less than 2 months later and I was onto my next one. This one is extra special to me, as it represents those lost. Unfortunately, I have babies in heaven, as well as on earth. This tattoo is my representation for them.
Tattoo number 3 came shortly after, and this soon became the start of my obsession for Alice in Wonderland. I truly am in complete awe of Lewis Carroll’s books, and have a special love for Tim Burtons movies. My favourite character is the mad hatter, however he is yet to become a tattoo. (Although I have a feeling he will be next!). I started with the cheshire cat. He is my second favourite character in all the films, and I love the way he smiles, and the wittyness is everything he says.
Tattoo number 4 took a little while longer to plan and figure where everything was going, but Jason does a fantastic job of being able to take something simple and turn it into something beautiful. I showed him what I wanted, and he took care of the rest, and I have to say I was amazed at the results. This is always a tattoo I often forget that I have with its location, but it makes it more special each time I see it.
Tattoo number 5 came from another Disney film, being Lilo & Stitch. As a child I would watch this film over and over, you could not turn it off. The importance of family means a lot to me, and I’m a very family-based person, so it only felt fitting that I got the quote ‘Ohana’, which means Family in Hawaiian.
Most of these are on my arm, but my next one is on the top of my leg. It is another alice in wonderland tattoo, and was my first tattoo in a different place. It was also the first tattoo I didnt plan, I walked into the shop, told them what I wanted and within the hour the tattoo was in place. I will admit it hurt more than the previous ones, but not by much. This is another quote, and its one that is said by Alice herself.
My next tattoo is another special one, and is in chinese (checked, double checked, and triple checked) and I’m often asked what it means and why I have it in chinese. The simple answer, is that I didn’t want people to straight up know what it says, as people can be quick to jump to conclusions. The tattoo is for my nephew Tyler who is 2 1/2 years old. When tyler was born he had a rough time coming into the world, (which i’ll cover in another post later), but he is a little fighter, so me and his mom (my sister) got the same tattoo at the same time to show how extra special he is.
Tattoo 8, 9 and 10 all came together, but still have deep meaning to me. I have a love heart on my wrist, that was for a previous relationship, in which I have now had edited into an arrow, meaning moving forward. I have a small blue star, which was for my great-grandparents who are no longer with us. This star represents them looking down on me, and being my star. I also have a matching tattoo with Milo’s dad, which is a love heart and infinity sign, meaning love forever. This one is also for my children, hence the location, but links us all in together.
Im going to leave it here, as i’m aware this is a long post, but be sure to check out my next post – My tattoo’s #2
