The Christmas Tag
I can’t believe that Christmas is upon us- just two more sleeps in fact! This has been a crazy year for my household, a one I am glad is almost over! I have been tagged by Country Heart and Home to do the Christmas tag- check her answers here!
Let’s begin then…
Whats your favourite Christmas movie?
The Grinch! Ever since being a small child I have always loved watching the Grinch on Christmas Eve, with a hot chocolate and fresh new PJ’s, there is simply nothing better. Always has me laughing, smiling, and crying all at once. A tradition I am looking forward to continuing with Little Man and E!
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
I believe I did when I was a lot younger, but I can’t remember much of it! Unfortunately, me and snow do not get on! I’m okay when it falls, and when it lays for a small amount of time, so long as I don’t actually have to travel in it.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
Christmas Eve is all about us. We open our presents on the night, before bedtime ( Early I know!) and settle down with The Grinch, till we go to sleep. We have done this the past two years and it works well for us, as 3 Christmas’s in one day is too much for Little Man and me. So now, we spend our Christmas slightly early, just us. Christmas is spent with the morning at my dad’s with my sisters and nephew, and the afternoon is spent with B’s parents, sister’s and brothers. We love a family Christmas.
Whats your favourite Christmas song?
I wish it could be Christmas every day- Wizzard. I remember this one being played a lot when I was younger, and it stuck with me every Christmas.
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
As above! We also have a Christmas Eve box for Little Man to open, with chocolate coins, a DVD, PJ’s and hot chocolate.
Can you name all of Santas reindeer?
Not off the top of my head! But I have googled it. Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Blitzen, Donner, Dasher, and Rudolf.
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
New PJ’s! I love the feeling of getting in bed with brand new PJ’s on, and since its Christmas, I get to keep them on all day!
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
This year it is fake and has been every year for the past 3. But next year I am leaning to getting a real one.. maybe.
What is your favourite holiday food/sweet/treat?
The entire Christmas dinner. I love everything on my plate each year, and with being pregnant this year I have an excuse to have an extra plate! I pretty much live off chicken, but we get turkey at Christmas too, and of course, you have to have your plate filled high with mash potatoes, roasties, veg, and Yorkshire puddings, not to mention pigs in blankets!
Be honest! Do you prefer giving or receiving gifts?
I prefer giving! I love going shopping to find that perfect gift for someone special, seeing their face light up and knowing that I have done that for them is my favourite gift.
What is the best present you have ever received?
This is a very hard one. For me, I think every gift is special, but if I had to pick one, it would be a coat my dad handed down to me. I’m very sentimental and my family means the world to me, so knowing that I would always have something of his made my day.
What is your dream place to visit for the holidays?
I am yet to visit York during winter. The town gets lit up and the markets are beautiful, and I would love to spend a night or two there, I have gone during the summer this year, so I am looking forward to going in winter one day!
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I am a bit of both! I love wrapping, and Little Man has joined in this year, passing around the tape and sticking to everywhere but the present! However, I am very basic, and they are not so neat!
What is your most memorable Christmas memory?
Not that long ago actually! Christmas day 2015, we announced to our families that we were pregnant with Little Man! Mixed emotions going through me, but nothing but love coming from our families made me melt. It was the best Christmas ever so far.
What made you realise the truth about Christmas?
When I was around 6 or 7, I was told by one of my friends, and when I asked my brother (2 years older) he confirmed it, but to me, it’s still special! Even without a large man in a red suit.
What makes the holidays special for you?
Being with family! Spending time together, having a laugh and making those precious memories that you will look back on in years to come.
As much as I enjoyed writing this, it will be my last post till around new year, as I am preparing to move house! I hope you all have a very merry Christmas, and a great new year, see you soon!
